OPEN POSITION: Project Highway Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Project Highway Engineer with over 7 years of experience, you will lead and manage the planning, design, and construction of highway infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, oversee junior engineers, and ensure the successful completion of projects in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

DUTIES AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Project Management: Lead and manage highway engineering projects from conception through completion, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
* Design and Analysis: Develop and review highway designs, including geometric design, pavement design, drainage design, and traffic engineering. Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
* Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff. Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
* Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs and constructions comply with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry standards (e.g., AASHTO, FHWA).
* Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with clients, government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements and expectations are met.
* Site Supervision: Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress, ensure quality control, and address any on-site issues or changes.
* Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed project reports, documentation, and presentations. Maintain accurate records of project milestones, decisions, and changes.
* Innovation and Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Implement innovative solutions to improve project outcomes.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
* Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in highway engineering, including project management experience.
* Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in highway design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads), and knowledge of engineering analysis tools.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
* Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues.
* Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead multidisciplinary teams.
* Green Design: Experience with sustainable and green infrastructure design.
* Procurement Methods: Familiarity with public procurement processes and contract management.
