Our client is a leading General Contractor with a reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across various sectors, including commercial, retail, hospitality and industrial. The team is expanding, and looking for a talented and detail-oriented Assistant Mechanical & Electrical (MEP) Estimator to join their growing Estimating department.
Job Overview:
As an Assistant MEP Estimator, you will support the Estimating team in preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical and electrical systems for a variety of construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your estimating skills and contribute to the successful delivery of large-scale projects in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of detailed MEP cost estimates for projects, ensuring all materials, labor, and overhead costs are accurately accounted for.
Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand project requirements.
Collaborate with the Estimating team and other departments to gather necessary data for estimates.
Perform take-offs and calculations for mechanical and electrical systems.
Assist in the procurement of subcontractor bids and material costs.
Organize and maintain accurate project records and files.
Help prepare bid proposals and submit them to clients.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, codes, and standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred, not required).
1-4 years of experience in MEP estimating or a related field within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction methods.
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
Motivated, eager to learn, and ready to take on new challenges.
